Transforming Children & Young People's Mental Health Services: Promoting Connections in a Post-Pandemic, Digital World to Improve Children and Young People’s Mental Health
• Discuss the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the incidence of child mental health, and explore ways to both improve provision in spite of challenges presented by the pandemic and recreate connections lost during lockdowns
• Examine the recommendations in the Commons’ Health and Social Care Committee December 2021 report on children and young people’s mental health and the government’s response
• Consider ways to embed an early intervention approach and discuss the role schools can play
• Gain insights into and develop priorities for the Mental Health Bill in regard to CYPMHS/CAMHS
• Understand the effect of social media on young people’s mental health and examine ways to mitigate the negative impact
• Examine avenues for reducing isolation and loneliness and creating greater connection, empathy and understanding among children and young people within and outside of digital spaces
• Explore the available funding schemes and discuss ways to reduce health inequalities through the effective utilisation of resources
• Develop strategies to deliver consistent care and smooth transition pathways into adult services
• Understand how to engage effectively with parents and carers to identify and support children with mental health issues at an early stage
• Examine measures taken at national and local levels to reduce wait times and tackle out of area placements
• Review successful public campaigns tackling mental health stigma and raising awareness
